[ebooks] Simpsonville (Images of America) by Andrew M. Staton in Arts-Photography

Description

I found this book to be filled with interesting facts and little known information about the town I grew up in. I have lived here all my life and driven by many of the places in the book on a daily basis. but never knew the history behind them. I think the author did a great job of covering such a wide range of topics. I know so many people who have gotten a copy of the book based on its coverage of the old cotton mill. but ended up enjoying the rest of the subjects just as much. I bought my copy of the book locally so I could get it signed by the author (I was so surprised by his young age and the amount of research he did to write the book!). I would encourage anyone who is considering purchasing a copy for themselves to do so.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. A wonderful collection of Simpsonvilles historyBy BethThis book is a fantastic collection of history from my adopted city. My oldest child (9yo) read the book from cover to cover right after we purchased. and now shows off her knowledge when we ride through town. Five stars for both the photos and the invaluable information Mr. Staton collected for this book. Proud to have it in our library.0 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Images is a good name; I do not feel that it accurately ...By CustomerImages is a good name; I do not feel that it accurately portrays this wonderful small town. as it omits people who were giants in the beginnings and progress of Simpsonville. In fact. as a daughter of a resident who was born and raised there. it was hard to believe that certain things were mis-stated or omitted. I do accept the authors statement that "another" book could perhaps be more accurate and inclusive. I am disappointed that the cover did not portray pictures of at least an educational institution. which the Simpsonville natives held in high regard. Hopefully. the image can be improved upon. I know this may seem critical. but as the daughter. granddaughter. niece and cousin of so many Simpsonville natives. I had hoped for more.
