Sounds and Sweet Airs: The Forgotten Women of Classical Music

[DOC] Sounds and Sweet Airs: The Forgotten Women of Classical Music by Anna Beer at Arts-Photography

Description

This is the first comprehensive study of the theological significance of Paul Claudel; a poet frequently cited by literary-minded theologians in Europe and theologically-minded poets (such as von Balthasar; de Lubac and Eliot). His writing combines cosmology and history; Bible and metaphysics; liturgy and the drama of human personality. His work; which continues to arouse discussion in France; was acclaimed in his lifetime as the summa poetica of a new Dante. Aidan Nichols study demonstrates how Claudels oeuvre; which is not only poetry but theatre and prose including biblical commentaries; constitutes a rich resource for constructive doctrine; liturgical preaching; and theological reflection. As the comparable example of Geoffrey Hill; Professor of Poetry at Oxford suggests; Aidan Nichols illuminates how Claudels synthesis of many dimensions remains an important way of practising poetry in the Christian tradition today.

If youve been a listener for a while then you have heard most of the stories but it was also cool to get a glimpse into BobbysBy JennyLong time listener of the BBS preordered the book and started reading it as soon as it got here today ... If youve been a listener for a while then you have heard most of the stories but it was also cool to get a glimpse into Bobbys head about what he was going through/feeling at certain times of his life .. I do wish it would of been a little longer and went into more of the relationship between him and the rest of the members of the show .. All in all though I did enjoy the book and even though I didnt buy the audiobook for some reason I could hear Bobbys voice in my head as I read it 30 of 33 people found the following review helpful. Still No Carlos ?By TonyMontanaGood book; most if not all the stories I had heard before but Bobby goes into more detail than on air. Overall on the book grading scale ....overall I give Bare Bones 4 out of 5 stars. Minus one star because I still want to know what happen to Carlos ?2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. You wont regret this purchase!By Sandie K Doll-NelsonThis is seriously one of the saddest; most entertaining books I have ever read. I love the very personal touch of this book and even if you dont know who Bobby Bones is; you absolutely love him (as I do) or you dont like him (I cant imagine if you have ever listened to him); you cant help but feel his struggles as well as his success throughout this book. If you have never had the addiction struggles in your family as he had in his; it gives you an inside look at how addiction affects every single person you are around; it is not just the addicts problem. I feel like this book gave me a better understanding of how a child of addiction feels and since I work with kids who have similar situations; this was a great eye opener for me; but there is so; so; so much more in this book than just that. Thank you Bobby Bones for being so open throughout this book; you have no idea how much you have touched and inspired peoples lives just being you.
