[audiobook] Southern Arizona Cemeteries (Images of America) by Jane Eppinga in Arts-Photography

Description

In the history of the Pittsburgh Pirates; no team has been more memorable than that of 1960. In the decade before; the team produced only two winning records: a second-place finish in 1958 and in 1959. In 1960; they put it all together to win the pennant. Their reward was a trip to the World Series against the favored New York Yankees. In the Yankees" three winning games; they outscored Pittsburgh 38-3; but the Pirates were able to win three to send it to Game 7. In one of the most exciting contests in the history of the sport; the Pirates came up in the bottom of the ninth with the score tied. At exactly 3:36 p.m.; Bill Mazeroski hit a home run over the left field wall to give the Pirates a memorable championship. This book tells the story of that magnificent team and its glorious victory; which will be etched into the minds of Pittsburgh baseball fans forever.

A practical; strange guide to the creative lifeBy Chris HigginsFull disclosure: I read an early review copy of this book and wrote a blurb printed in the first few pages. Im a fan.Heres the deal: this book is basically about how to run your life as an independent creative professional. It covers all sorts of material; from personal details of Kings prior successes and failures; to diet tips; to tax/financial tips; to scheduling tips. Theres even specific financial information about how King runs his own creative career. The reality of being a creative professional (who works from home or an indie office space) is that all of these things (yes; including what and when to eat; how to structure your day; how to deal with email and telephones; etc.) are actually very important. If youre a creative genius; youve got that part covered -- you need guidance on all the other infrastructure associated with running the business that is your creative genius gig. THATS WHAT THIS BOOK IS. If youre a creative worker who has to manage his or her own schedule and life; prioritize tasks; not get super fat from sitting in front of a computer all day; and so on -- it really helps to have some help from somebody whos been there before.King has been a successful musician; writer; graphic designer; sound engineer; video producer; interviewer; and probably various other jobs Im blanking on right now. What he has created here is a slightly bizarre manual for other people like us who have too many weird creative jobs but need a little advice on how exactly to put the pieces together. Its a quick read; and if youre a creative genius; you owe it to yourself to check out the book.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. This is like the 59th time Ive bought this bookBy CMI keep buying this book because I keep giving it to my friends as medicine for the serious "destructivity" that absolutely goes along with being an artist. Anyway; today I bought the Kindle version so that I can keep it for myself because I need it all too often when I find myself circling the drain. Really; really grateful for this book; Mr.King.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. A Must Have Survival Guide for Creative people!By Jon StathamI was very intrigued by the title of this book. It represents a dilemma for creative people: How do I go about living a creative life that can pay monetarily? And is that even possible?!You will find yourself referring to it to keep you on "the path" and it may just challenge some long-cherished beliefs you may have about how artists are supposed to conduct themselves in their work and life. As an artist myself; it is great to see knowledge out there that creative people can think and work with;and that will lead them to success and (yikes!)-responsibility.This gem of a book by Carl King provides some keen tips on how to not only survive as an artist; but how to FLOURISH; emotionally; creatively; mentally; and even physically. It is as close to a correct (and sane) viewpoint on the subject as you will ever find on this very important subject.Because artists are important to society. If you are an artist; BUY AND USE THIS BOOK.
