It should be subtitled something like "In England and a Few Other Places." The publisher is British and perhaps the presumed readership would be. There is some coverage of New Zealand; Australia and on the European mainland. I was looking for something more along the lines of how landscape might have affected crops or historical trends. This is more the idea of landscape.That said; this is a rather interesting book. For me; the most interesting part is how art looks at landscape in painting; and in literature (for example; in Sir Walter Scotts novels).Three stars because the title promises what the text does not address. I am torn between three and four stars; the writing is actually fairly good. Readers interested in landscape architecture might be interested.
