Great book series!By Melissa BrisenoAs a music instructor; I have been using this series of Alfreds books with my piano students and they all progress very well from one book to the next. I have students that are close to completing the previous books (level 1B) so I purchase the next level to prepare for when they are ready to move on to the next level. The students enjoy the bright; colorful; and sometimes humorous illustrations and everything is explained very well. Highly recommend this book (and series) to other instructors and/or those looking for self-teaching.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Great book for kidsBy Amber D. StewartMy kids use this series of books for their piano lessons. They started at age 5 and 6 and have done well with these books. They like the pictures as well as the included songs. The books do a good job of building piano skills from the very basics. The style does seem targeted toward younger kids; so I dont think it would be the best choice for a teenager or adult learning piano; but has been perfect for my kids.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. I love the Alfreds Basic series for my piano students.By Ellen M. DuBoisThe Basic Piano series by Alfreds is great for my piano students. The Basic moves along at a fairly good pace and is strong on music theory. What I love about this book is it combines lesson book 2 and 3; (in order); so the one book lasts my students longer. I also use the notespellers with these books to make sure the music theory is covered. I highly recommend these for students who are younger; (from 6 up); to follow along in this series. As it progresses; the pieces become more challenging and are super for teaching piano without leaving anything out.
