Empirically proving thatmdash;no matter where you aremdash;kids wanna rock; this is Chuck Klostermans hilrious memoir of growing up as a shameless metalhead in Wyndmere; North Dakotoa (population: 498).With a voice like Ace Frehleys guitar; Klosterman hacks his way through hair-band history; beginning with that fateful day in 1983 when his older brother brought home Mouml;tley Cruuml;es Shout at the Devil. The fifth-grade Chuck wasnt quite ready to rockmdash;his hair was too short and his farm was too quietmdash;but he still found a way to bang his nappy little head. Before the journey was over; he would slow-dance to Poison; sleep innocently beneath satanic pentagrams; lust for Lita Ford; and get ridiculously intellectual about Guns N Roses. Cmon and feel his noize.

However; it does not lend itself well to e-book format. The photos are often squashed or cut off on the sides based on what orientation youre using to view them. They cant be zoomed at all; so you cant make out many of the details described in the captions. And thats important; because this really is just a picture book. There are captions for every photo; but in terms of block text; there are maybe 10 pages total. The photos depicted are WONDERFUL...but I would advise you buy the original paper edition. Youll probably get more out of it.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. History LessonBy RocknRollGal109I have always had a love of History about Oklahoma and have always prided myself on knowing alot about Oklahoma History. This book is highly insightful and paints a vivid picture of the life and times of Oklahoma City. Its easy to read format and wonderful stories make this book a must read for anybody even mildly interested in the history of Oklahoma City. Its too bad that work like this isnt used more in Oklahoma City Public Schools.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
