GregoryProfessor Guillorys pictorial review of Decatur perfectly compliments his other work; "Images of America: Decatur."Having had parents who grew up during WWII; this book instantly took them back to that time. The images of the now-gone businesses; the names of people they remembered; and the story told through this wonderful compilation was moving. My father particularly enjoyed the section devoted to the Civil War. It was encouraging for me to see how patriotic and devoted our ancestors truly were regardless of the era or why the country called them to service. It was also interesting to see names of people in our community whose relatives were war heroes.For anyone who has ever called Decatur; Illinois home; Guillorys books on Decatur should definitely be in your library.
