I only wish the author had spent more time on the artistic application of GIMP and less on Web design and the like. I would recommend that Mr. Hammel write an extensive book on the artistic application of GIMP; such a book is highly needed.. As a novice I was looking for a simple and understandible reference to one of the best photographic programs I have used.GIMP 2.6 for Photographers: Image Editing with Open Source Software]. this book did not cover Painting as a product at all satisfactory.The Artists Gude to Gimp covers Gimp 2.8 and is well laid out and easy for novices to understand. It covers a wide range of different techniquesBy Bodo BarwichThis book covers a wide range of different techniques that are easy to reproduce.It provides step by step tutorials that are easy to follow and help you see how different techniques of gimp can help you with your projects.In comparison with todays video tutorials I like written tutorials much better because you and mark the pace that suits you and your learning level. The book shows the navigation rutes that are easy to follow. something that I found quite hard with free video-tutorials.I still dont have worked through all the tutorial but I always see that I can learn still very much from this book to get better results with gimp.Thank you for this great book.
