Jahrhundert. Wie ihre Vorgauml;nger sind die modernen Imperialkriege vor allem von den Gegebenheiten des Raums und der ausgeprauml;gten Asymmetrie von Militauml;rorganisation; Ressourcen; Kriegfuuml;hrungsstilen und Gewaltkulturen der Konfliktparteien geprauml;gt.Sie sind im Kern lokale Buuml;rgerkriege; in denen die westlichen Mauml;chte nur ein dominanter Machtfaktor unter vielen sind. Sie haben keine klaren Fronten; keinen Anfang und kein Ende. Regeln zur Gewalteinhegung spielen nur eine geringe Rolle. Die westliche Militauml;rmaschinerie erweist sich auch heute noch als unfauml;hig; einen politischen Konflikt militauml;risch zu entscheiden; einen Gegner zur Schlacht zu stellen; der keinen Grund hat; sie anzunehmen; und sich auf Guerillakrieg und Terrorismus verlauml;sst. Den Preis zahlt letztlich; fruuml;her wie heute; die Bevouml;lkerung vor Ort.Dierk Walter unternimmt erstmals den Versuch; die Logik der Gewaltkonflikte im Rahmen der europauml;ischen Expansion schluuml;ssig zu erklauml;ren. Er untersucht Konfliktmuster; die Bedingungen der Gewaltentgrenzung und die Dynamik des Zusammenstoszlig;es gegensauml;tzlicher Gewaltkulturen.
