The Book of Caddyshack: Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About the Greatest Movie Ever Made

[ePub] The Book of Caddyshack: Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About the Greatest Movie Ever Made by Scott Martin at Arts-Photography

Description

Fifty years into my life journey I realise that; while I love remote wild places and the peoples I meet there; it is in forests that I find the greatest joy. Of all the forests that I have explored; it is the great circumpolar Boreal forest of the North that calls to me most. Here is a landscape where bush knowledge really counts and where experience counts even more ... This book has been thirty years in the making. Out on the Land is an absorbing exploration of; and tribute to; the circumpolar Boreal forest of the North: its landscape; its people; their cultures and skills; the wilderness that embodies it; and its immense beauty. The book is vast in scope and covers every aspect of being in the wilderness in both winter and summer (clothing; kit; skills; cooking; survival); revealing the age-old traditions and techniques; and how to carry them out yourself. It also includes case studies of early explorers; as well as modern-day adventurers who found themselves stranded in the forest and forced to work out a way to survive. So much more than a bushcraft manual; this book goes deeper; to the traditions and cultures that gave us these skills; as well as focusing on the detail itself. Ray and Larss practical advice is wound around a deep love for the forest; respect and admiration for the people who live there and sheer enjoyment of the stunning scenery.

This book. while interesting. is not the average chronological smooth read. Its full of scattered trivia bits. much from the writer obviously having watched Caddyshack frame by frame. Perhaps a little too much golf and uber-detailed Caddyshack info for the average fan. but if youre obsessed like the author with "the greatest movie ever made." this is a must read. For all the spot-on information in the book. I have to say I was perplexed by the authors failure to correctly identify. from the movie. an obvious insider nod to actor Peter Scolari. when Danny Noonan tells his sister. Deb. that "Pete Scolari" will get the training bra back to her real soon. I have always wanted to know which cast or crew member was friends with the future "Bosom Buddies" and "Newhart" star to name drop. but all I got was the authors notion that the bra keepers name sounded like "Pizza Larry." and a definition of "scalar." However. the book contains much more accurate trivia that overshadows this slight.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Save Your MoneyBy Daniel J. MackeyI bought this book because Caddyshack is one of my favorite movies of all time. and I thought I would be getting a behind the scenes kind of book. A book of trivia and interviews with the heavy hitters that made Caddyshack what it is. Although there are elements of all of those things in this book. they are few and far between. For the most part. the writer gives summaries of scenes that take place. which any advid fan is already familiar with. There are pockets of trivia that are interesting. but then there is also minutia that my eyes just drifted past. There are also opinion based theories of why something was done a certain way. This is a book that I wouldnt be mad to get as a gift. but I wouldnt go out and buy it.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Great Read! Very InformativeBy B767CaptainIf you enjoyed the movie. loved the characters. quoted from famous lines or just love golf---this book is for you. Author Martin details the movie by describing the atmosphere around the set. the interaction between the actors. the daily summaries of filming with directors/producers and the general feeling of what it was like to be on set during the filming of this classic comedy. I really enjoyed reading this and it was both informative and funny. Martin did a lot of research and interviewed key actors from the film. and really did a marvelous job of capturing the improvisation of the characters. the general aura of being on set and of the work it took to produce this movie hit. Highly recommended if youre a fan of golf or the movie.
