Wonderful Book for Shoe LoversBy Robin DanekThis fabulous little book may be small in stature; but not in content. As someone who buys shoes and wears them until the soles wear out; it never really occurred to me that shoes could provide a glimpse into our culture. In this book; Caroline Ashleigh has elevated shoes to an art form by cataloging fashion footwear from the mid 20th through the 21st centuries. Not only that; but this great little book includes sections on historical footwear as well as celebrity shoewear. Famous shoe-related quotes that are sprinkled liberally throughout the book underscore that our fascination with shoes is by no means limited to Imelda Marcos (although one of the funnier quotes is from her). As with all the Warmans Field Guides; the book can easily be slipped into your purse; so if youre really an avid shoe collector you can have images and values at your fingertips. But; you dont have to be a collector--anyone who loves shoes will get much enjoyment from this fun book.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Disappointing!By SuntooWhat a disappointment this book is.Its really a miniature coffee table book.Although its called a "Field Guide"; none of the pretty pictures are in any chronological order and theres no history behind the shoes pictured! I never would have bought this book if I had seen it in a bookstore first.
