Berthe Morisot was French artist; member of the circle of painters in Paris who became known as the Impressionists. She was described by Gustave Geffroy as one of "les trois grandes dames" of Impressionism alongside Marie Bracquemond and Mary Cassatt. She formed a close friendship with Manet; who became her brother-in-law; and she served as model for several of his paintings. The two greatly influenced each others artistic development. Her own later work inclined toward pure Impressionism in its rendering of light; while retaining an unusual smoothness of brushwork. Morisot painted what she experienced on a daily basis. Her paintings reflect the 19th-century cultural restrictions of her class and gender. She avoided urban and street scenes as well as the nude figure and; like her fellow female Impressionist Mary Cassatt; focused on domestic life and portraits in which she could use family and personal friends as models. Her works also include drawings; pastels and watercolors.

I cant describe what a treasure Henry Bayman gifted us with compiling this book in English. To say its a tough task translating the pearls of wisdom from the lips of the Sufi Master Ahmet Kayhan would be an understatement. Henry Bayman has done his work justice; and kept his translation as pure and close to his words as possible. Its my feeling that the authors time and true connection with Ahmet Dede is what allowed him to convey his teachings in such an unadulterated way.To me this book is a little like "The Little Prince". Everyone will find a piece of themselves in it. It will help you explore your true self and expand. And if you read it through the eye of your heart; you will feel the walls that confine your vision come down. Truely enlightening; lifting; soul-warming; eye-opening. Thank you for making this available in English as I have been waiting a long time for a translation to share Ahmet Dedes teachings with my husband. I described the 3rd book; "The Black Pearl;" as the apex of a triangle and the other two points or corners of this triangle as its predecessors (The Station of no Station and The Secret of Islam: Love and Law In the Religion of Ethics). I would like to describe this latest book as "A Universal and Inclusive Garden"... Imagine being shown a garden of the utmost and breathtaking beauty; a garden abundant with every kind of flower; the air scenting with beautiful fragrances coupled with the song of birds perched upon various kinds of trees. Within this garden there are Three main sections; all interconnected and inseparable; for example; The Common Species Section (The Wisdom Base-The principle entrance where everything starts); The Saffron Section (The Inward Path: Sufism); and The Rose Section (Descent of the Light: Whos Who in Islam). The gardener informs you with knowledge concerning the garden: its origin; the kinds of flowers; plants; trees and how to plant; grow and maintain everything within the garden. The whole experience evokes a profound sense of peace; security and familiarity... an innate familiarity. That is The Teachings of a Perfect Master; An Islamic Saint for the Third Millennium.I have to say that the authenticity of The Masters teachings are more than evident; principally because throughout the book both the exterior and the interior forms of Islam (Islam and Sufism) are present and presented as a "whole" and not something separate... one cannot obtain Nectar without growing and taking care of a Rose! This "wholeness"; in my opinion; can be traced right back to the life of The Prophet; when Sufism was a reality without a name! The gentle tone of The Masters words flower with humility par excellence and feel as though they have been woven with the fabric of pure faith; firmly rooted in the very heart of Love. Its timeless themes are uplifting; inspiring and full of hope... and are accessible to everybody.I consider myself very fortunate to have met Master Ahmet Kayhan a few times. I dont speak Turkish; so what was said to me or to others present was translated. Over the years; apart from making phone calls from England to Turkey; I was given many English language leaflets and papers written by The Master; which have been very beneficial. However; I have to confess that this present book is a wish come true for me. It is the cregrave;me de la cregrave;me and I dont think that one could wish for anything better in the absence of the physical presence of Master Ahmet Kayhan... along with the three books that precede this present one.I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to Henry Bayman for all his dedication; hard work; time and love in putting Master Ahmet Kayhans teachings into this Power/Lighthouse of a book. To put it quite simply; Henry Bayman has done more than a marvelous job. Thank you very much indeed!
