Purchasing dance shoes; chatting with friends during a party or choosing the right outfit for an evening out; turn into memorable moments. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and continued thinking about it long after I put it down. I highly recommend it to dancers and non-dancers alike.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Beautiful writing; unique and inviting!By Rosie PereraI loved this book and devoured it in a couple of days. Though Im not a tango dancer (I do other kinds of dance); I was drawn into the passionate embrace of it by Vander Schaafs gift with words. She weaves spiritual insights in and out with passages of memoir; and describes a remarkable transformation in her body image and spiritual and relational health through being introduced to this beautiful dance form.I highly recommend Passionate Embrace for anyone who loves dance and bodily movement; anyone who is afraid of their own sensuality; or anyone who feels distant from God yet is open and curious about unique ways of approaching the Divine.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Wonderful Book!By Leah KostamoSandra Vander Schaaf writes as I imagines she dances -- with lyrical grace. Passionate Embrace is a moving narrative of the authors love affair with Tango. Woven into Vander Schaafs reflections on dance are her reflections on God and her struggles with depression and womanhood. Anyone interested in an "embodied" expression of faith as explored through the metaphor of dance will enjoy this book tremendously.
