[PDF] The Film Photography Handbook: Rediscovering Photography in 35mm; Medium; and Large Format by Chris Marquardt; Monika Andrae in Arts-Photography

Description

Award-winning author Lawrence Weschlerrsquo;s book on the young Mexican American artist Ramiro Gomez explores questions of social equity and the chasms between cultures and classes in America. Gomez; born in 1986 in San Bernardino; California; to undocumented Mexican immigrant parents; bridges the divide between the affluent wealthy and their usually invisible domestic helpmdash;the nannies; gardeners; housecleaners; and others who make their lifestyles possiblemdash;by inserting images of these workers into sly pastiches of iconic David Hockney paintings; subtly doctoring glossy magazine ads; and subversively slotting life-size painted cardboard cutouts into real-life situations. Domestic Scenes engages with Gomez and his work; offering an inspiring vision of the purposes and possibilities of art.

Film is not dead. great book on current status of film photography and how it fits into the digital ageBy James M.Masterful work that teaches with just the right amount of technical information but more importantly provides hands on tutorial on how to shoot film. process it. and the different options to either print pictures the old fashioned way or how to get digital images from your negatives or slides. It is a inspirational read and makes you want to shoot film if you havent tried it before or in my case shoot more film. especially black white. There are many photographs giving examples of end results as well as illustrating the tutorial parts of the book and tables listing films currently available as well as discussing new projects to keep film alive. Additional resources are throughout the book so you can continue the film photography journey. this book is a gateway into all things film.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful.
