A disappointing book...By Steve T.If I had seen this book in a store I would have put it back on the shelf; and not just because $35 (in a store) is way too much; but because it is less than inspiring. I really hoped for more.A "photographers handbook" with many (most?) of the example images looking like they were shot through diffusion filters? Okay; even allowing that I think the premise is really "how to shoot an art photo"; I really was amazed that the pictures are in many cases simply blurry (excuse me: artistic!) It is called a handbook; so I guess its meant to be a very basic introduction to whats involved; rather than a "how to" book. Im really not sure what to make of it. I had hoped from the five-star reviews that I would discover some great tips.His comments about the utility of the Nikon 70-180 macro are interesting; but that lens is around $1200! He also mentions the possibility of an assistant to handle lighting. He mentions that a tripod might be good for low-level shots (Id imagine that the butterfly would leave before a tripod was set up) but never mentions a much more useful angle finder.There is a fast overview of butterfly life; what times to look; and what to wear. He even explains how to stand still to take a picture. Wow.Get "Butterflies through Binoculars" instead. It also offers a short life history or the critters; offers some comments about lens choices and flash yes or no. Better yet; it is filled with clear (as in sharp!) photos that are used to identify the insects after you have your photos.
