I wanted a book that started with the inception. than through the construction. along with photos and description of each. and up to the opening day ceremonies.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. A Childrens History of the Golden GateBy WABookwormThis book is part of a series of books about Wonders and Inventions. written for children. The big draw to this book. besides the inclusion of technical terms being defined and an index. are the reasons why the Golden Gate was built as it was and the history that created San Francisco Bay. It does not omit that there were lives lost in the building of the bridge. even with a safety net below. It talks how the bridge was retrofit on two occasions. the most recent after the Loma Prieta earthquake in 1989. and it is still being inspected frequently. This is going to be on my next book order (this week)!
