Now. with this book and DVD combination. I have finally dragged out my guitar and started learning to play! I ordered the "collectible" book as it was new. had the DVD and was spiral-bound! The 95 songs to play along with are educational and entertaining. I would still hire an instructor if I found one. but this instructional book and DVD are a great start. Be forewarned that you cant read it in Google Cloud Reader AND that the audio/video is only available on a few devices (thats mentioned up near the top of the page in a not particularly noticeable way). I suspect that I can puzzle out what any given audio or video selection is supposed to be about and find an equivalent on YouTube. but it would be nicer if the Kindle eBook could be read on all my devices and if the audio/video was supported on something I own.18 of 18 people found the following review helpful. It gives multiple tunings (which can be hard to find online). some sample licks in the different tunings. and a few basic songs to learn. The CD is great insofar as it gives the reader a goal sound.If you know the basics of a steel guitar. or can play one or two songs already. then this is probably not the book for you.If. however. you play other instruments. and are just looking for the basic introduction to steel guitar. this is a perfect place to start.
