As social; locative; and mobile media render the intimate public and the public intimate; this volume interrogates how this phenomenon impacts art practice and politics. Contributors bring together the worlds of art and media culture to rethink their intersections in light of participatory social media. By focusing upon the Asia-Pacific region; they seek to examine how regionalism and locality affect global circuits of culture. The book also offers a set of theoretical frameworks and methodological paradigms for thinking about contemporary art practice more generally.

They are reminiscent of the great Russian film-maker Tarkovsky because of their rather inconsequential naturalness and their luminosity. The commentary is an interesting mix of dryness and soulfulness. The book captures the multiplicity; the odd mix of present and past; of grandeur; intimacy and quirkiness that is contemporary Russia.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Engaged and EngaginigBy Dennis Jospeh KilfoyA great book! Siemens passage on the infamous statue of Marx on Theatre Square is a particular favourite. The author/photographer tries to capture the point of view enjoyed by the statue so that Theatre Square unfolds before both of them--photographer and statue-- as one giant theatrical spectacle. Its that engagement with its subject that makes the book in turn so engaging.
