I actually really enjoyed the illustrations before giving it to them. The mother said that they loved the book with the story and pictures. He added more and more each time; until he learned the whole thing. Then his Campfire group had a lesson over music; and Charlie was able to share his favorite song! I had found this book and gotten it for him for Christmas; so he had a gorgeous visual to accompany his "show-and-tell." That is pretty much it.
