I wasnt sure what to expect when I got the book. I was afraid that it was going to be a typical text book snooze fest; but I was pleasantly surprised with what I found. Its a book about people. People with stories. Stories of how their lives were affected by urban renewal. The author gives you a look at these people through a psychological perspective; and from the get go helps the reader understand root shock in a very practical way.I was waiting for her to cover the city of Detroit; but maybe thatll be in a future book that she writes. Roanoke; Pittsburgh and parts of Jersey are the cities she covers.Very well worth the read. Thumbs up.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
