Santa Claus; Indiana; acquired its famous name in 1856 and has been celebrating the spirit of Christmas ever since. Postmaster James Martin began answering childrens letters to Santa and his elves in 1914; a tradition that continues to this day and makes Santa Claus a favored destination for those seeking the holiday spirit. The towns unique name prompted Robert Ripley to feature it in his popular cartoon strip; and businessmen such as Carl Barrett and Milton Harris raced to erect Christmas attractions as early as 1935. Beating Walt Disney by nearly a decade; Louis J. Koch opened Santa Claus Land; the nations first theme park; in 1946. Today; visitors still flock to Santa Claus to share in the magic of Americas Christmas Hometown.

By far the best book Ive found on painting with gouache.By Kindle #34;The Dragon#34; Customer; BUFFALO NYI found this an excellent guide for me; a beginner with both gouache and botanical illustration; but of intermediate experience with traditional watercolor (painting). The author is definitely talented enough to write a book on the subject; the book contains many; many of his works and they are exquisite. I learned a lot of things; such as the excellent reference for Fabriano Pittura paper and the basics to using gouache: Ive been using it far to thick. I learned use more water; more layers and let each layer completely dry before adding more paint.I think the only negative to this book was that the author tried to demonstrate too wide a variety of plants. Id have preferred less examples and more specific instructions and detail on the painting of certain plants. Nonetheless; its by far the best guide on botanical painting using gouache that Ive found to date.0 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Not professional contentBy KabessaPoor content.
