The Modern Monologue: Women

[DOC] The Modern Monologue: Women by From Routledge at Arts-Photography

Description

In the 1920s and 1930s Noeuml;l Coward mastered and defined the art of the revue sketch - short and often topical or satirical stage pieces; many of which were a lead-in to his famous songs. He wrote these sketches for the top revues of the 1920s and 1930s; including London Calling! (1923) and Cochranes Revue of 1931. This volume collects Cowards best and most witty pieces; including Rain Before Seven; the only sketch he performed with Gertrude Lawrence; and the hilarious parody; Some Other Private Lives; in which Coward burlesques his own famous play; Private Lives. Also included are short one-act plays never before published. The collection includes an Introduction by Coward scholar Barry Day; setting the work in the context of its time and its dramatic form. A forgotten area of Cowards writing is now back in print.

This is such a great beginner book to start to learn about different topicsBy MelindaThis is such a great beginner book to start to learn about different topics! This book breaks down the different types of air very easily. It is easy for younger readers to break down the concepts and get a grasp of it. I read this to my two year old. He was able to follow along and point out objects he recognized in the pictures; like leaves; trees and clouds. It really is never to early to start teaching kids the fundamental things like this. This eBook covers all the different types of air; including natural air and artificial air. It talks not only about air you breathe; but air conditioning and also air pollution. I think it is great that it covers all the kinds of air; good and bad. It helps little scientists be able to see a broader picture. The only issue I did have with this book was that it just ended. There was not summary; wrap up or even end page. I checked it several times thinking that my tablet was having a glitch since I turned the page and it just went white. Just something to notify you the book ended would be helpful.Overall; this is a great little Ebook for little scientists to start learning about air! I received this ebook for free in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. "Most plants take in air and give carbon dioxide". This is NOT ENTIRELY PRECISE!!!By mamyvicI have been looking for some books to read to my kids and stumbled upon this series. This one in the specific is OK; it has nice images and is clear enough for little kids to understand.Very short; few information and overall did not impress me that much.I dont agree with this sentence below; which should have been more elaborated because IT IS NOT COMPLETELY CORRECT the way it is written: "Most plants and animals take in air; use the oxygen in it and give out another gas; carbon dioxide."Most plants actually (at least ALL those who do photosynthesis) GIVE OUT OXYGEN during the day; and will give out carbon dioxide at night (which means that they will consume oxygen/ take in air... but only during the night). They should have made it more specif; distinguishing between animals and plants. The sentence the way it is formulated; is confusing for a kid and just not entirely correct. According to this book it would seem that most plants just consume oxgen without ever giving it out: wrong! Also; overall.. it just feels like this book is incomplete.. as if something is missing; or if the pages were at some point just inserted randomly. Some have a nice and informative text and others just seem to be thrown in there to add pages to the book. It does not flow right.I actually believe that it should should be FREE for Kindle. I am not saying that it is not worth $0.99; but there are so many books for Kindle which are actually more elaborated and are still free; therefore this one should be too.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Great for preschool aged children imo. The illustration is fabulous. The story line is cute. If youre looking for a nice book to share with your little ones youll be happy with this one. Reading about the different types of air has heightened my scenes a little bit;and helped me truly enjoy that fresh breeze that just flew bye:) Thank you to the author for the free download in exchange of my honest review.
