The Place of Artists Cinema: Space; Site and Screen

[DOC] The Place of Artists Cinema: Space; Site and Screen by Maeve Connolly at Arts-Photography

Description

Narrating the Catastrophe is an extraordinary collaboration between contemporary art and critical discourse; which guides the reader through unfamiliar textual landscapes; lost worlds of the text; where Being is defined as act rather than form. Focusing on the nature of figuration in art practice through hermeneutic enquiry; Ricoeurs "Narrative Identity"; and Deleuzes artistic "Catastrophe"; provide the context for an alternative perspective on how we interpret and engage with the world around us. The primary objective of "Narrating the Catastrophe" is to explore the relation between fine art practice and philosophy and facilitate understanding by way of explanation in an interpretative dialectic. The art process here becomes simultaneous with the meaning process.

Great BookBy dallasbakerThis is a great pictoral history of Tuscaloosa that takes the reader through some well known and not so well known peices of the towns past. I was pleasantly surprised to learn a few new peices of the history. The book is an easy read for all levels. A must for anyone who ever wanted to see how the area has changed over the years.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. LOVE THIS BOOKBy BarbaraThis book tells the story of Tuscaloosa not only in narrative form but also with wonderful pictures. It allows one to see for oneself images that reflect the past times of Tuscaloosa; Alabama. I dont have a particular fondness for this southern state because of its history of violent racial acts; but I must say I learned a lot about the city. I appreciate for once someone included not only whites; but African American and Native American contributions.
