This a story about an abduction; a what if scenario.Stranger things have happened and could happen.... missing people disappearing without a trace.Could something like this actually happen; will a rogue government or alien beings come and abduct other humans to do some experimenting on. That remains to be seen for a future event in time.

Scary and WonderfulBy RayGunYou know that scene in a horror movie when it gets dark and ominous music begins to play and you know that at any moment the killer is going to suddenly appear and murder everyone in a horrible fashion. That intense build up; and the anxiety of wondering exactly when yoursquo;re going to be scared; because you already know itrsquo;s coming. Thatrsquo;s this entire book. I had to take breaks at times to read some short stories that were a bit lighter; because the unnerving fear for the characters; as we the reader know whatrsquo;s happening; could be a bit much at times. However; itrsquo;s easy to see why this is a classic; and how it has inspired others to delve into the dark world of vampires. Though; considering Irsquo;ve mainly read paranormal romance; itrsquo;s a bit disconcerting to see how the original was so completely evil. The vampires in this are soulless; not misunderstood; and kill children and anyone that gets in their way without remorse. More so; itrsquo;s incredible all the powers they are given; not just immortality and strength; but real mystical sort of powers; that I wish hadnrsquo;t been pushed off to the side in the other stories Irsquo;ve read. Beyond all of that though; I donrsquo;t believe I have ever come across a story written in this style; and it was this style that really made the tale such an intriguing one. Sure there have been plenty who have done rotating first person; but this is told in pieces of peoplersquo;s diaries; the letters theyrsquo;ve written to others; and even newspaper clippings. Yoursquo;re getting the events after the characters have experience them and have pondered over them; as they try to understand what exactly is going on. Because of this you get to see how it all slowly melds together; and what each character really is thinking; and a much more personal aspect of the story that allows you to really feel for each of them as if these were actual historical letters that someone has stitched together. And I do so hope people were ever like this; this goodness and bravery and the way in which they talk so passionately about everything. Itrsquo;s really a wonderful book. Though I would advise getting a version that has footnotes to explain certain things. Such as words that are no longer used in this way. As well as some of things that are referenced. Irsquo;m sure you could easily enjoy this book without such; but it was rather nice to have.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. The original story with great narrators!By Kristi RichardsonWhat made the experience of listening to Dracula [Audible Edition] the most enjoyable? All of the wonderful actors/narrators in this edition. What other book might you compare Dracula [Audible Edition] to and why?I havent listened to Frankenstein yet; but that is on my list. I imagine since they were both written about the same time; they will be quite similar in style.Have you listened to any of the narratorsrsquo;s other performances before? How does this one compare?I love John Lee. He is one of my favorites. He isnt in it enough; but the other narrators are wonderful too.Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?I loved the characters of Minna and John. You really were rooting for them and since Lucy was lost; there was always the fear that John would have to kill Minna.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Absolutely Loved this and the performanceBy TVNerd95I was absolutely captivated by this story from the very beginning and the characters are so well described that I couldnrsquo;t stop listening. The cinema was my only exposure to this story before now and what can I say but the cinema destroyed these fascinating characters by either sidelining them; not including them or over sexualizing them for the entertainment value. Lucy and Mina are two of the strongest female characters that I have ever seen in literature and their friendship is wonderful. The gentlemen in this story are very courageous and it is amazing how determined they were to see Dracula destroyed because it was the right thing to do and not for revenge. My only con is there are times that the author gets a little wordy with some of his side stories and conversations that I almost wanted to skip some of it.This is a great performance to listen to. All the actors not only had to act out their main part but also any of the other characters when the story was being told from the journal writerrsquo;s point of view. The actors did a great job of maintaining each characters personalities and subtleties no matter which actor was speaking for the character. It is exceptionally well done.
