The Richard Wesley Play Anthology

[PDF] The Richard Wesley Play Anthology by Richard Wesley at Arts-Photography

Description

For thirty-one years; the RMS "Queen Mary" sailed the North Atlantic. It helped defeat Hitler and was the ship of choice for the worlds rich and famous. Now in retirement in the Port of Long Beach; the "Stateliest Ship Afloat" plays host to tourists; travelers and more than six hundred spirits that roam her halls and passageways. These choice decks remain the floating home of a few regulars; including the oft-glimpsed White Lady; as well as Little Jackie; John Henry and; of course; Grumpy. Join paranormal investigators Brian Clune and Bob Davis as they take you to the hot spots of activity from port to starboard and relate tales from the dockside about the spirits that haunt the grandest liner ever built.

Review
1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Exceptional Anthology of PlaysBy RHThis anthology is necessary. especially if you are a black actor or actress. I am part of a scene study class in Los Angeles and one of the most difficult things for me is choosing pieces that I feel connected to or that I could actually fit into any major characters archetype without feeling like Im reading a stereotype. This book is a gold mine of scenes for black actors and actresses. I always find it easier to understand a scene when Ive read the entire play and this anthology takes things a step further by providing insight from the author about the catalysts for his plays. The introduction provides information on other black-themed dramas that you may not have heard of and would benefit from reading. There are 318 pages and the first play starts on 43. There are 5 plays total. Even though the plays are from different periods. they still are so well-written and encompassing of modern issues. This book has done so much for me as a black actress. Whether youre a male or female or in your late teens or older than 50. there is something here for you. There are great monologues to be found within the scenes as well. Ive read each play more than once and will definitely continue coming back to this anthology.
