The Rise of Asheville: An Exceptional History of Community Building

[ePub] The Rise of Asheville: An Exceptional History of Community Building by Marilyn Ball at Arts-Photography

Description

This inside look at the production of 20th century television commercials begins with a review of advertisingrsquo;s beginnings going through the 1960s and early 1970s. The author; a career ldquo;Mad man;rdquo; recounts lightheartedly his experiences on commercial productionsmdash;both live and filmmdash;in theaters and studios in New York City; at LBJrsquo;s ranch; on the White House lawn; along Romersquo;s Appian Way; in Lady Astorrsquo;s dining room and on the Tryall Golf Course in Jamaica; among other places. The technical (and people) challenges involved in producing high-end commercials for major corporations are given in often funny detail.

Im not sure Haulman is convincing; but she presents an interesting lens.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Haulman digs deep and offers a nuanced analysis of the cultural and gender politics of fashion in early America. Its thought-provoking and students -- both undergraduates and graduates -- have really enjoyed it.
