Just as the dances of Beach Music have their twists and turns; so too do the stories behind the hits made popular in shag haunts from Atlantic Beach to Ocean Drive and the Myrtle Beach Pavilion. In Carolina Beach Music; local author and Beach Music enthusiast Rick Simmons draws on first-hand accounts from the legendary performers and people behind the music. Simmons reveals the true meaning behind "Oogum Boogum;" uncovers just what sparked a fistfight between Ernie K. Doe and Benny Spellman at the recording session of "Te-Ta-Te-Te-Ta-Ta;" and examines hundreds of other true events that shaped the sounds of Beach Music.

Even songs that most Christmas anthologies omit are found in this Hal Leonard book; from centuries-old tunes up through current trends. For my taste; I would prefer a format with slightly larger musical notation; however; from a book that has so many songs in it; the small print is understandable.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. although I wouldve liked to see some more modern Christmas songsBy KLPSong selection is so so; although I wouldve liked to see some more modern Christmas songs. The writing and chords are so small; it is VERY hard to read; so beware. Id rather have fewer songs and be able to read them.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
