Barry is a guitar player but these books are written for any instrument and for guitar players that is really valuable. The typically guitar player tends to learn via "dots on a grid" and that is good for training wheels. but guitar players need to move past the dots and using books like these help to starting thinking think like people on the rest of the instruments.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Excellence in Jazz EducationBy Tom NewmanGreat book for serious musicians!5 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Perhaps the best book out thereBy GediminasEven though both of Barrys books compliment each other. I think this is the more important one. If you really put the effort. it can transform your playing and improvising and take you to a very high level as a musician. He goes in-depth. explaining how do you approach and put into practice the patterns you learn. and when do you use them. how to connect them. how to phrase in a meaningful fashion. Really. the best book on the subject I have come across. and Ive seen many.
