Plus FunBy ledis gazicI loved the way the book began with a sense of mystery. which kept me captivated and made me want to read on. It was a great way to get ones attention into what later became a serious historical narrative and/or the authors personal perspective. Although. as a Social Studies major and long time history teacher. I was familiar with most of the matter and topics he covered. I found Greenblatts presentation to be fun and quite spellbinding. Of course. all cannot be taken at face value as this is a historical novel. Nevertheless. I liked the way the subject matter was presented. At the same time. I agreee with some critics that there are far better and more accurate historical accounts of the poem. naturalism. and that time period. I found Greenblatts book highly enjoyable to read. but do plan to read more on the subject from other authors. In the meantime. I think this is a fun book and I have already shared it with friends.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. So goodBy SuzThis book is amazing both because the period of history it deals with is fascinating and because it is so well written. Ill admit I read mostly history and philosophy books; I love them but they are difficult books. Often it takes me a while to finish them and I wouldnt recommend them to everyone. I read this book in a weekend and couldnt put it down. I think anyone could enjoy it. It reads like a great fiction book. I absolutely loved this book and will likely read it again.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.
