The Theory and Analysis of Drama (European Studies in English Literature)

[audiobook] The Theory and Analysis of Drama (European Studies in English Literature) by Manfred Pfister in Arts-Photography

Description

In this deliciously revealing oral history of Broadway from World War II through the early 1980s; more than one hundred theater veteransmdash;including Carol Channing; Hal Prince; Donna McKechnie; Hal Holbrook; Andrea McArdle; and Al Hirschfeldmdash;deliver the behind-the-scenes story of the hits; the stars; the feuds; and the fiascoes. Along the way there are evocations of the great comedians and dramatic actors who had that indefinable magic that made them stand out above the rest. With verve; love; and passion; this book gives us the story of more than half a century of great theatermdash;from the inside out.

Capturing the atmosphere of NYCBy local_hobo"Finger Paintings" remind me of childhood; when drawing abstract and simple paintings only by your hands on a large white piece of paper. Now; times have changed: the large white piece of paper has been replaced by a handy iPhone and the dirty "finger paint" has been abolished by a tidy Application; that doesnt require to wash your hands after performing your artwork. But one thing didnt change: The intuitive and pure expression of your feelings and reflection of your world around you when performing art. This is exactly what Jorge is doing at a level of perfection; that enables him to capture not only a scenary of some part of the city; but also an intense atmosphere; a specific mood; when strolling through NYC; no matter wether during day or at night. When looking at his paintings I could recognize and recall these "moods" from moments; when exploring the city by myself. The book is an amazing example of how techniques of creating art are changing in the age of information technologies; but it is still possible to capture subtle atmospheres like the great painters of the past centuries did before. IT works ;-)0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. If Edward Hopper had an iPhone...By J. RandolphI first became aware of Mr. Colombos work on the cover of the New Yorker. His work is amazing! Its all done with his fingers on the iPhone. It reminds me largely of Edward Hoppers work; if only slightly less personal. The book is full of full-page images; and really does his work justice. Highly recommended!0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Fabulous!By Allison GrammarFabulous book!
