In Vichy France in 1942; eight men and a boy are seized by the collaborationist authorities and made to wait in a building that may be a police station. Some of them are Jews. All of them have something to hidemdash;if not from the Nazis; then from their fellow detainees and; inevitably; from themselves. For in this claustrophobic antechamber to the death camps; everyone is guilty. And perhaps none more so than those who can walk away alive. In Incident at Vichy; Arthur Miller re-creates Dantes hell inside the gaping pit that is our history and populates it with sinners whose crimes are all the more fearful because they are so recognizable."One of the most important plays of our time . . . Incident at Vichy returns the theater to greatness." mdash; The New York Times

From R.H. Wesselsexperiences in coming to Oklahoma Territory in theearly 1900s to his courtship with Margaret; welldocumented through many letters written to each other;this book is both intriguing and inspiring. KennethPeek does a great job of compiling the many lettersand photographs into a moving portrayal of life on theOklahoma frontier.3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. I loved this book!!!!!!!!By NancyI absolutly loved this book! It was such a treat to be able to read the wonderful letters written so long ago between Rhinehardt and Margaret. I cant believe how people endured without any modern convienences. You almost feel these people you are reading about are a part of your family. I wish the author will write another sequel soon! The beautiful photos in the book were lovely. Makes me want to go to Oklahoma and see it for myself!
