In Denver; the spirits arent just penned to the city center. No; even the suburbs and outlying cities have the kind of history that could give quite a fright to the unsuspecting. Folks might be surprised to learn that a house in northwest Denver comes fully equipped with a basement theater--and spectral performers as well--and former phantom residents still roam their old homestead in what is now an Adams County open space. From Westminsters Bowles House Museum; where even the ghosts were involved in renovations; to Littletons Melting Pot restaurant; a former Carnegie library that offers diners a side of the supernatural; accidental ghost hunter Kevin Pharris explores further tales of supernatural haunts and unexplained phenomena surrounding the Mile-High City.

This book is refreshing because its directly from the horses mouth and not a compilation of interviews of people who "knew" Jimi.I found Leons book honest and painted a good picture of what life was like for him and Jimi growing up with a struggling father who was trying to make ends meet. It was interesting to learn of the roots that Jimi (Buster)came from.I also am rooting for Leon to gain a much deserved residual as he is Jimis brother. Unfortunately Jimis "step-sister" is the one thats cashing in on Jimis name; if anyone should; it should be Leon.I recommend this book for the hard-core Jimi fan.4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. If you truly love Jimi... (and want to know the truth) BUY THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!By Ken KellyI purchased this book... and before I got it... I got a chance to meet Leon (Jimis biological brother and son of Lucille and Al; their mom and dad). Hes a very cool and approachable dude! I also got to hear him play and dedicate his rendition of Angel to his mom. I hadnt realized... and was deeply touched when he explained that Jimi wrote it for her. (I also later read that in this book). I had to buy another copy at the venue so I could ask him to sign it... which he kindly did. I also got to see some of his outstanding original artwork! I was so excited and impressed... and asked so many questions about it... I forgot to ask for the prices to see if I could afford to buy any (a mistake I intend to rectify)!! In any case... I was pleased to find this book to be a well written; blatantly candid; fast and hard-to-put-down read! I dont at all regret owning a duplicate copy. It was also very nice to see Leon looking well and at peace. A survivor! Yet clean and sober; sharing his art and music with us... he was a true inspiration!Of all the many books Ive read about Jimi...this one is my clear favorite!KiniK3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Honest ; Compelling Book From Jimis Little Brother!By Sunshine LadyI really love this book. I have been a huge Jimi Hendrix fan many years and have read many books about his life; this book has new insight and one of the best I have read about Jimi . Leon Hendrix is Jimis little brother; he wrote a very heartfelt; honest; compelling story of his life with Jimi. Their tragic childhood years were so very sad there were times when I was brought to tears. I could imagine these two young brothers together during many sad days; playing on the streets with little food to eat; dirty clothes with holes in their shoes; waiting for their father to return from late night jobs and hiding in the closet from social workers. Jimi was a hero and wonderful big brother to Leon; he saved Leons life two times; once from being hit by a train! Their mother died when they were just kids. I learned the true personal inspiration behind many of Jimis songs like "Castles Made of Sand" which is one of my favorite songs was about their mother ; Father; and Leon. The story about Leon and their dad hearing Jimis first album with a hippy couple next door was hilarious! The book takes on so many twist and turns I couldnt wait to find out what would happen next to Leon and Jimi. Leon had his own problems just as Jimis carrer takes off. Jimi wanted Leon to join him on the road not long before he passed. I think Leon may have been able to look out for Jimi if that had happened. There were so many vultures in Jimis life at that time he knew he needed someone to have his back. Leon is a surviver and is inspired by God and Jimi to find a new passion in life with his own music. I think it is very unfair that Leon and his family have been completely cut out of the estate. Shame on Janie the step sister; this is not what Jimi or Al would want. ((Leon)); Jimi is always with you as you said and I know he is proud of you. Keep Rockin and God Bless. I hope I can catch your show someday and thank you in person for sharing your story. Hugs!
