[PDF] The VueScan Bible: Everything You Need to Know for Perfect Scanning by Sascha Steinhoff in Arts-Photography

Description

Interactive eBook. Towards the last third of the 16th century; an exceptional painter came to Spain: Domenico Theotocopulos; known to us as El Greco. Before and after him; other painters arrived; such as Cincinato; Cambiaso; Zuccaro; Tibaldi; etc.; most of them finding patronage at the court of Philip II -but they were all lesser artists -as would also be the case in the 17th century. In comparison to them; El Greco is an unrivalled and unpredictable personage. In spite of his Cretan ascent ("El Greco" means "The Greek"); he has often been claimed to be either Venetian or Spanish; because it was within these two traditions where he received training and carried out his work.

Only Good for the UninformedBy QuadWeaverHaving read both this book and Gentlemans guide to grooming and style; I can say that without question the latter is a better book on the subject of classic mens fashion. With that said; AskMen.coms Style Bible is not without value. If your wardrobe and fashion knowledge consist of jeans; t-shirts; and the occasional pair of khakis that only get worn when absolutely necessary; this book is a reasonable place to start. It is fairly easy to read and written in an informal style. Overall the writing suffers from lack of consistency as it has its origins in questions answered and articles written on the AskMen.com website. Many of the pronouncements about fashion in this book are presented without any supporting evidence or history behind the article of clothing being discussed. As a consequence it makes the book a very quick read since it is light on explanation. If youve already read Roetzels aforementioned Gentlemans Guide; AskMen.coms Style Bible brings little to the table; although I do find the table of clothing care symbols in the back of the book useful. However; if you find any of the more authoritative books on the subject intimidating; this is a fine place to start. It is better to have read this than to have read nothing at all.3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. A Must!By WoodyGapCrawlerSo for the guy out there that is probably new to the business scene this is a must have. The book is conservative; goes into detail well enough; explaining color; coordination and occasion. It covers it all from penny loafers to 7 jeans; hounds-tooth suits to wrist watches. What is appropriate to wear to what event; time orf year etc. Also includes skin tone; body type; even power colors. I have found this to be a very interesting read. I am a fairly common guy. Not into fashion at all; this book gives the run down; on tasteful clothing to impress; and gain confidence while leaving it open for my choice. No "rubber stamp" outfits. Even explains how to polish shoes and tie ties with various knots. This is an absolute steal at $12. AskMen.Com got it right. No fluff right to the point. I hate to ramble but trying to give this book justice. Youll be impressed I dont care who you are.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Better than most with keeping on point!By RonThe problem with most of these types of books as they go to far from the reality of the average mans needs. This one is the exception; if you want to know the history of socks or that the English invented the single middle vent in a sport jacket so as to ride their horse; try Allan Fussers "Style and the man". On the other hand; if you want concise advise on every pertinent area without the history lesson; buy this book. Great guide for anyone living in 2014!
