Glorious Book!By Greg GrundtischHere is a Glorious book; with remarkable true stories that rival anything that you would read about the salty high seas.Set on Lake Ontario; the author takes first hand accounts from newspaper reports; captains logs; journals;and many other sources; and puts it all together; and tells an accurate tale of what really happened on this fresh water inland sea. The last sentance in this review tells it all.The cover is beautyful; showing a schooner running before the wind. The stories inside are extremely well researched; and because of this; the historic details are told in such a compelling way; you just want more and more. The book starts out with stories of the War of 1812; and goes on to many other tales of other wars and historical events; and of contemporary times that most are unaware of.Lake Ontario is rich in American and Canadian history; and this book has stories from the very beginning of both countries to present day.If you like a good true story with a bit of history and a bit worthwhile information; you will very much enjoy this book.Have the kids read it too. They will be one up on most in there history class. Maybe show up the teacher. Even if you are not into history; Maritime or otherwise; the author presents these tales in such a unique manner that is enjoyable for all.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Local stories come to life!By Sandra CruzHave lived near Lake Ontario most all of my life as has my mother of 90 years young. The folk lore and rich history surrounding the smallest of the Great Lakes is well established but never widely written about except locally. Here is a good chance for someone to learn more about how this lake; part of an inland sea dramatically affects weather and therefore the history of our country!0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. yBy Stanley FearI sent a reply yesterday
