To a Young Jazz Musician: Letters from the Road

[PDF] To a Young Jazz Musician: Letters from the Road by Wynton Marsalis; Selwyn Seyfu Hinds at Arts-Photography

Description

In 1791; shortly after the United States won its independence; George Washington personally asked Pierre Charles L’Enfant—a young French artisan turned American revolutionary soldier who gained many friends among the Founding Fathers—to design the new nations capital. L’Enfant approached this task with unparalleled vigor and passion; however; his imperious and unyielding nature also made him many powerful enemies. After eleven months; Washington reluctantly dismissed L’Enfant from the project. Subsequently; the plan for the city was published under another name; and L’Enfant died long before it was rightfully attributed to him. Filled with incredible characters and passionate human drama; Scott W. Berg’s deft narrative account of this little-explored story in American history is a tribute to the genius of Pierre Charles LEnfant and the enduring city that is his legacy. From the Trade Paperback edition.

Great Historical album!By E. StevensI purchsaed this book when I instantly recognized my father-in-laws dad in the cover photo...after a few pages I fell in love with it. If you are from or familar with the Northern Parish of Caddo in Louisiana; you too will fall in love with the familar pictures and inscriptions detailing the history of the area. It stays displayed in our home and almost every person that has noticed it will stop and flip through it pages. I have made several repeat purchases for family members who couldnt put it down when visiting!1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. North Caddo Parish (LA)By James B. BerryFor any family who had ancestors who lived and worked in the great Pine Island Oil patch; this is a must. A great collection of historical photographs representing the communities of Trees; Oil City; Vivian; and Rodessa; Louisiana. I actually found a rare photo of my great grandfathers residence; and many more relevant of the period.
