In a series of essays; the process of urbanisation ndash; a human mega-trend acquiring unprecedented scale and speed as globalisation proceeds ndash; is examined in the most diverse contexts and stages of development. Drawing on scientific references and identifying recurring themes like dispersion; privatisation and vitality; Fiedler devises the glossary for a cross-cultural understanding of the global urban system emerging. Images and anecdotal evidence reconnect these themes to local realities. The tone of the essays conveys a post-voluntarist attitude; derived from many years of professional experience ndash; critical of both neoliberal practices and determinist ideas. To ldquo;condemn the realityrdquo; of global urbanization ldquo;is fruitlessrdquo;; writes Johannes Fiedler in this unlimited view of a world of constant motion; subject no longer to just its planetary rotations; but also to the constant push and pull of its various populations; some of whose giant constructions shift the earthrsquo;s axis. From the foreword by Lars Lerup

The book itself isnt bad. It wasnt what I expected. If I had to rate the book itself; Id give it 3 stars due to the authors writing style. Im happy with the purchase and I feel I got a great deal. The author isnt trrrible but certainly not exceptional. In all; there are certainly many interesting points and some of the information I found quite interesting. I loved the design and the pages are all black on the edges which I thought was really cool. Id buy it again.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Street ArtBy SandyA fascinating if unauthorized bio of Banksy. Raises many interesting issues regarding the value of art and the power of social media. If you have ever wondered about graffiti writers; this book takes you into their world.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Thorough and FairBy Patrick ByrdThorough and fair. Wills Ellsworth Jones was enthusiastic about art generally and Banksy in particular but clearly not beholden to him.
