Based on the German story Faust; in which a man sells his soul to the devil for power; experience; pleasure and knowledge. Doctor Faustus was first published in 1604; eleven years after Marlowersquo;s death and at least twelve years after the first performance of the play. It is the most controversial Elizabethan play outside of Shakespeare; with few critics coming to any agreement as to the date or the nature of the text. The 1616 version omits 36 lines but adds 676 new lines; making it roughly one third longer than the 1604 version.

He currently lives in Ligonier; I grew up there; and hes very interested in local history; so I thought this would be perfect for him. He and my grandmother enjoyed looking at the photographs; but he usually prefers words to pictures. When I bought this book; I read the description thoroughly; and nowhere in it does it mention that its more of a photo journal than a historical reference book. Maybe could change the description to mention that? I was a little disappointed in that regard; but he still enjoyed it; so it worked out for me; but someone else may not be as lucky.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
