Grand Rapids restaurants have served up meals and memories since the citys earliest days. At Benthams; one of the first downtown restaurants; customers without money to eat could trade an animal pelt for supper. John Sebaitis trained his German shepherd; Spooky; to serve beer to the patrons at his tavern. And a seventeen-year-old Gerald R. Ford worked part time as a server and dish washer at Bills Place. Join Norma Lewis as she explores the history of Grand Rapids most beloved eateries and the stories behind them.

Divinely weaved togetherBy Jeff LacyZola masterly weaves this sordid psychological story tightly; carefully creating a plot that propels forward until the strings are so taut that he brings it to the climax. Very entertaining.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Wonderfully Chilling!By CustomerThis review is for the audio version of the fabulous Emile Zolas "Therese Raquin" novel as narrated by Kate Winslet. One of the best audio books Ive ever listened to. The incredible character scene development that Zola writes and Kate Winslet reads; puts you right there in 1800s Paris. Every dark corner; every neurotic thought; and every blink of an eye is easily comprehended and understood by the listener/reader. If youve ever wondered what went on beneath the quiet facade of a 19th century woman; you should read this book...its wonderful and chilling.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.
