The cover of the book is white with the title and subtitles bordered by gold lines. Two important features make this book handy and helpful: 1) the easy to read music (good printing with sharp contrast) and 2) the handy feature that all Inventions and all Symphonies(except the last) run two facing pages- so no need for turning pages as you play! Another fine quality of this book is that the editors have used all the various manuscripts -including the autographs- of these works to point out to the pianist some of the differences occurring between them in certain instances of trills and note values. This is probably not a satisfactory edition of Bach for the serious scholar. but an excellent.low priced book for the person who mainly wants a clear. high contrast printing. easy to play through each piece. book. that has some valuable historical information about these compositions included as well as footnotes of textual differences among the manuscripts that allow one to experiment.4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Flimsy. but otherwise perfectBy JamesThis book is perfect for me. If you need a lot of help to get through tough songs. such as explanations of how to play trills etc.. look elsewhere. This book gives you the minimum with some dynamic and fingering recommendations that are generally helpful. The pages are clear and uncluttered with unnecessary notes. which is exactly what I was looking for.The only negatives are that it doesnt stay open well and the paper quality could be better.
