There was quite a bit of information about the founding of this area of PA. If you are interested in Middletown or its history; you will find this book interesting because it is loaded with photos. The authors did a good job of tracking down old drawings and photos of places that still exist and those that are long gone.Arcadia publishing does a good job with this series "Images of America."0 of 1 people found the following review helpful. HometownBy HarmonycwI bought this book for my father and one for myself. I grow up in Middletown and my great uncle was the first black mayor as well as my grandfather was the first black chief of police. I know most of the streets and some of the pictures; the structor still stands today. This is a very good book. I would suggested it to any History teacher or just anyone who loves to know about small towns in Pennsylvania.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. If You Have That Genealogical Connection...By John ZI bought this book because my great grandparents lived in the community and I was hoping their picture might be in it. The author mentions a butcher shop in a photo caption. Was it theirs? I dont know. No pictures though. Love the series and some great old pictures showing the changes in the borough. If you have some interest in the early days of the Middletown; great resource to have.
