Good; Clear; Written by a musoBy DSI suggest having an iPhone; or dictionary nearby for the many terms relevant to philosophy; making it a thick read at times. But; isnt that why youd get the book in the first place? Its written by a jazz guitarist; so the author understands the area from an aesthetics point of view. A practicing artist; as opposed to a straight academic writes a very different book; one that is instantly more relevant and readable.2 of 3 people found the following review helpful. As if that werent enough; the book also does an excellent job of framing various persistent problems in the artworld (ontology; interpretation; expression; meaning); which is remarkable given the disarray of the artworld.One caution: If you dont have a background in philosophy (or the arts); you probably will not be able to understand much of this book.
