Itrsquo;s not just a street anymoremdash;itrsquo;s a genre of its own; and itrsquo;s celebrated in Tom Shearsquo;s Broadwayrsquo;s Most Wantedtrade;: The Top 10 Book of Dynamic Divas; Surefire Showstoppers; and Box-Office Busts. Part of Potomacs popular Most Wantedtrade; series; Broadwayrsquo;s Most Wantedtrade; sings the praises of musical theater with a dash of whimsy thrown in. Shea honors those who have made musical theater what it is todaymdash;the good; the bad; and the ugly. Oh; the ugly! When a show hits gold; the worldrsquo;s a wonderful place; but a bomb is just as precious and enjoyable in its own perverse way. With more than forty top-ten lists packed full of fun and facts; Shea shows you the bestmdash;and worstmdash;that Broadway; off-Broadway; and the rest of the musical theater has to offer. So while you learn about the amazing people behind the hit Bye Bye Birdie; including the incomparable Chita Rivera; yoursquo;ll also read about the ill-fated and laughable Bring Back Birdie; which quickly indicated why Broadway doesnrsquo;t do sequels (especially twenty years after the original). While chuckling over how Jimmy Durante and Ethel Merman bickered over top billing for 1936rsquo;s Red; Hot; and Bluemdash;with the comical result of their names being written diagonally; crossing in an Xmdash;yoursquo;ll also find praise for Paul Ford; Stephen Sondheimrsquo;s rehearsal pianist; who helps the legendary composer bring his music to life. Musicals run the gamut of topics; and Shea waxes melodic on political; western; rock and roll; and comic-book musicals; plus so much more. They say the neon lights are bright on Broadway; Tom Shea shines just as brightly with Broadwayrsquo;s Most Wantedtrade;: The Top 10 Book of Dynamic Divas; Surefire Showstoppers; and Box-Office Busts.

Very-research oriented which I appreciate. and also has a lot of examples. Things can get confusing sometimes because there is a lot of information packed into each chapter. but the summaries are very well written and help wrap up each chapter very concisely. Learned a lot!3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. This is a very nice book. sadly for meBy PaulaThis is a very nice book. sadly for me. I thought it would cover Universal Design as applied to Interior Design. It covers a lot. from graphic design to ads. etc. So a very nice book but know- it is NOT an interior design book.3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Excellent source of information about inclusive design (universal design)By Sue WeidemannI use this book as a critical reference source for my graduate seminars in architecture (although it would also be very useful for landscape architecture and planning). A much wider audience. not necessarily education based. would also find it informative. It addresses both physical and social inclusion (thus being inclusive. itself).
