The progression just makes no sense; and the beginner young kids I teach (all 6 years old) just cant grasp the concepts they throw at you on the first pages. The very first page has them playing C; D; and E; on the staff. I think its bizarre. I much prefer the Alfred or Bastien books where you learn fingerings; rhythm; and black keys; white keys; THEN the staff. I really wish I hadnt wasted the money on this book. Ill probably use the songs later on in the book when my students learn to play on the staff; but its just awful for beginners.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. I still feel this is a great book to start off if you are notBy Nubian PrincessI am on a beginners level with my lessons and even tho I am familiar reading musical notes; I still feel this is a great book to start off if you are not. Overall I am pleased with this book.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Easy to FollowBy WDWFanMy 12 year old daughter is just starting to self-teach herself how to play the piano. She has the background knowledge of how to read music. At first; she said this book was way too easy because the first part of this it just teaches you how to read music. However; my daughter enjoys playing the cute and easy to follow songs in this book.
