I visited Kyoto recently and was hoping to get a nice overview of the temples that we had visited. Now understanding that a volume that included ALL temples would not really be realistic as their are so many there;I was hoping that at least the more "famous" ones would be included so as to have a nice memento of our trip. The book itself warns that it is far from a complete resource; and that it really doesnt have a particular theme.Rather; its a collection of random temples that the photographer happened upon in their own visit(s). The photos are decent; but not as stunning or as in-depth as I would have hoped.Same with what is written; the text barely scratching the surface on what each temple is about.So again; this book isnt necessarily bad;but it left me a little disappointed. I would not recommend this book for the outrageous prices ive seen it listed at.In fact;after reading it im puzzled as to why its demanding such prices on the after-market? If this is the definitive volume in English on the topic; then that is quite sad.
