Praise Not FaintBy Jacobin GirondinWinslow Homer - The Color of Light is a work of amazingly penetrating scholarship on many levels that examines the techniques and the pigments and papers used by this foremost of native American watercolorists. as well as much else. Every time a book on Winslow homer comes out. one assumes it will be the last. then yet another emerges that is nevertheless of immense value in understanding this painter. Winslow Homer - The Color of Light is such a book.22 of 23 people found the following review helpful. Finally - A Glorious Reference Book on Homer!By Marshall VandruffFor those of us who revere Homer as a great American artist and who particularly love his watercolors. this book is what weve waited for. I only wish some of the details and close-ups (which are stunning!) were larger. One reviewer said that her watercolor teacher is considering a course with this book as a basis. Great idea. Ive taught watercolor at Fullerton College for sixteen semesters and I would love to do the same. For years my students and I have conjectured on how Homer worked. This book answers almost every question that can be answered. And the reproductions are excellent. And the work is breathtaking.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Fabulous service from Hawaii!By Patricia G.NorthKona Books made two trips to the post to figure out international shipping costs and also chipped in a little extra when the final costs were tallied for insurance. etc. The book was also wrapped carefully and arrived I am told in beautiful as good as new condition. It was such a pleasure to work with the artist/owner and I would recommend her as the best of the best in the true Aloha Spirit. I had a turn-around deadline for a birthday present and she made it happen with 2 days to spare. I cant thank her enough for all her diligence. care. and time spent. is very lucky to have this source!!!
