Wendy

[DOC] Wendy by Walter Scott at Arts-Photography

Description

Rivers Forgotten is a journey through the passages and portals of the underground waterways that lie unseen below cities. Self-taught photographer; Jeremy Kai brings these forgotten landscapes to light with his first book. Beneath the streets of all cities lie networks of hidden water features; like sewers and storm drains; which go unobserved by the general public. Kairsquo;s underground photography explores these buried vistas; as well as the concepts of urban watersheds and the methods in which cities and their populations interact with them. His boundless exploration is matched by his artistic ability; which illuminates the beauty that can be found in the abandoned and unexpected. In Rivers Forgotten Kai ndash; who is often pictured as a lone figure; his face obscured by his brightly shining headlamp ndash; stands as a guide helping to bridge the gap between the known and the forgotten.

Follies of a Hipster YouthBy David MahaffeyA companion and I read an excerpt of Wendy in The Best Comics of 2016. and we both went completely hysterical from the first page alone--which contained a short comic named "Wendy on a Bendy." (In fact. I think the other people in the bookstore were kind of annoyed--but it was completely worth it.) Wendy wants to be a powerful artistic voice. a bearer of the culture. a visionary creative. but shes far too distracted by the allure of drugs and sex. Its really a brilliant send-up of hipster youth culture. and if youre the sort of person who gets invited to events in "art spaces" with any regularity. youre bound to recognize all the characters in this book. Im still puzzling my way through Scotts construction of race and sexuality (though not /necessarily/ in a bad way). and Im a bit nonplussed by the ending. but overall Id say its definitely worth the purchase.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
