Every drawing in the book is simply a drawing of an outfit shes worn. Something else that really bothered is that she encourages you to make your wardrobe appropriate for your situation in life (office worker needs more professional clothes. student needs more comfortable clothes. etc). but then all of her "advice" in the book is aimed at someone who works in an office-type setting. This is evidenced by the work outfits she talks about for each season (which. by the way. are just drawings of her own clothes). I can see why shes proud of her book. Its perfectly applicable to...her. A lot of the book is centered around her (winter dressing can be fun because thats when her b-day is. back to school shopping meant her mom was going to sew clothes for her. or the fact that upon hearing shes lived in NY. people in Indiana ask her if shes seen celebs everyday). Besides all of the drawings being her own clothing. the advice is geared to someone in her socioeconomic class. culture. and work setting. Even though she claims that you can follow this advice on a "lean" budget. and says explains the idea of reduced cost per wear. the simple fact is that many of us do not have tons of money to drop on "investment" pieces or the privilege of time (and money!) to sew our own clothes. I dont begrudge her that lifestyle. and I honestly have not problem with it. but I feel like a style manual should be a lot more accessible and universal to people of different tastes. income levels. and life stages. Even if you do live the same lifestyle as her. youll find that there is very little content. If you look at her blog. its heavy on the pictures. very light on the writing. The book is the same way. and even then. the writing that is there isnt uncovering any secrets of style. but simply things like "if its too cold to wear a skirt by itself. try it with tights."I wanted to like this book. because I am a reader of the blog. and I kind of feel bad for writing a negative review. but Ive got to tell the truth like I see it. I sadly cannot say that I liked it. I didnt absolutely hate this book. but it was very disappointing. to say the least. I wanted to learn how to apply style to myself. not hear all about Jessicas anecdotes and see Jessicas outfits. The title of the book is unfortunately accurate...its about Jessica. Im sure shes a sweet person and I wish her well. but honestly. this book sucked and is NOT worth the $10 I spent.26 of 27 people found the following review helpful. Not Worth BuyingBy SafronThis is an OK book. nothing special and I think theres better style books out there. I was kinda disappointed at how thin the book is. I went through the whole book in less than an hour and dont feel as inspired as when Im reading her blog. The illustrations are really good but overall. its not worth buying. I suggest just reading her blog!3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. This is more like a pamphlet than a bookBy Giselle MedinaThis is smaller than the average magazine. its mostly repeats of what she had in her blog. The quality of this book is really cheap. If you like her stick to the blog.
