I am shocked; when talking to the young people of today to find out they know next to nothing of this era in Ameican history. As one sage once said; "Those that dont know their history are condemned to repeat it."Robert Vaughn was a popular actor later 40 years of the 20th century. He earned his Ph.D during his earlies popularity on TV. This book is his published Doctoral Thesis. Vaughn was raised in a theatrical family; and created several iconic roles during the 1960s and 1970s. Being part of the era of the Joseph McCarthy "witch hunts" that did great and undeserved damage to the entertainment industry to which Vaughn has been a part for hs entire life gave him access to much relevant and pertinent information on his subject. Vaughn has an intelligent; but accessible writing style that renders his subject intersting beyond the facts he presents and his own theatrical history.I was delighted to find this book and Vaughns autobiography in the listings; and I would gladly encourge anyone who is interested in show business in general; Television history; the McCarthy era; or the impact of McCartyism on th entertainment industry would find this book of information not found in detail elsewhere.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
