Segregation was a way of life in St. Louis; aptly called "the most southern city in the North." These thirteen oral histories describe the daily struggle that pervasive racism demanded but also share the tradition of self-respect that the African American community of St. Louis sought to build on its own terms.

I previously used MS Digital Pro and a little bit of DPP. I opened up CS4 and was overwhelmed to say the least. I didnt even know how to get started. So far this book has been perfect for me. Im about halfway through it and Ive learned how to:- organize my photos in bridge- rank and keyword my photos in bridge- basic edits in Adobe Camera RawI finally did some image editing last night in ACR and Im pleased with the results so far. I do have a lot more to learn in ACR and havent even begin learning photoshop. Im sure Ill grow out of the current edits and want to move up to advanced techniques. Ill probably buy a book soley for ACR and soley for photoshop when the time comes.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Good for setting up and organizing workflow in Photoshop but light on image editingBy Gunter J. SteffenThe condition of the books was as described/expected and I could hardly have asked for a better price. As to the content; it concerned mostly workflowi and how to get organized in Photoshop rather than the nuts and bolts of how to manipulate image content. As such; it was helpful but I was hoping for a bit more on the photo editing end. Still; all in all; a very useful companion to the other book that I ordered which was "Photoshop CS4; The Missing Manual."4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Get OrganizedBy Milton E. AnglinI havent made it all the way through the book yet but what I have been through has been excellent. I have been shooting digital for several years and my workflow has been rather a hit and miss proposition; mostly miss. I am now following the advice Derrick gives in this book and things are starting to look up. I am organizing while reading which is what is taking me so long to get through the book. I wish I had this book when I first started shooting digital. I wouldnt be so far behind. I am adding Aperture to the workflow outlined in the book. If you are just starting in digital photography get this book. It will help you get organized. If you have been shooting for quite a while get this book before you shoot any more. It isnt easy to go back over several thousand pictures but I know that things will be easier in the future. The Photoshop CS4 Companion for Photographers (Digital Media) UPDATE: Now that I have finished the book my opinion has not changed. I highly reccomend this book for anyone starting out and for people; like me; who need to get organized.
