I had hoped for more related to the early - mid - 60s - Lido Theater - Lous Deli - but know they were destroyed during rioting in the late 60s. A lot I didnt know - still wonder if the Bataan photo that was the screen at the Lido was saved - probably not. Deuchlers book was recommended to me while visiting the Maywood Public Library and for those who do wish to dig deeper the library should be your first stop. Having grown up in Maywood in the 60s; I was hoping to see more images from that era; but there are certainly enough to unleash countless memories and; again; inspire further research. A walk through history...somewhatBy Diana MaculanHaving lived in Maywood in the later 60s through the 70s; I found this book very interesting. I enjoyed all of the history; and wonderful vintage photos presented. However; I remember vividly having seen a fantastic array of pictures; portraits; and photos on display at the Maywood Public Library when the town celebrated its centennial and many didnt seem to be represented in this book. There were street cars; horse drawn wagons; and some wonderful houses. The one I lived in was built back in the early 1900s itself. Perhaps the author thought it would make for too long of a book? I cant say; but I think it would have been that much more interesting to put more on Maywoods first fifty years; as opposed to its later (and more recent) history. I have seen other books of the series and that seems to be more of the approach in them.
